The next night: Atlanta Braves Stadium. August 20, 1972 |
|
I met someone that night that would become a friend for life, Freeman Batchelor. Road crew member, Jerry Sloan, introduced us. " The following year, when "Free" joined our staff, we had a good time golfing in Hawaii at the Makaha Country Club. Let me quote Freeman from an e-mail he sent me about the circumstances of this August 20th, 1972 night in Atlanta. Freeman: "In the summer, you girls came to Atlanta Fulton Co. Stadium (Rod Stewart opened for ya'll) and had just finished the Cotton Bowl, and some other big stadium. That's when I first met you. The Riveria Hyatt House was where Sloan and I did this Hapkido demo in a big suite. Rod Stewart and Ron Woods were there, too. The first weekend I went out with ya'll was in the spring of 1973 which included Milwaukee, Detroit and Chicago. We toured all spring, summer, fall and into the winter winding up the season in Japan that December. Then we finished in Hawaii where you and I did all our Makaha golfing genius. I had yo ass lean and mean, ready to kick Grasshopper's a_ _." |

This is what a good side kick looks like, when done by a Black Belt. My friend, Freeman Batchelor. |
